Choosing table linen

Opt for a clean, ironed tablecloth that is appropriate for the occasion; for a reception dinner, choose a cotton or linen tablecloth in neutral or classic tones. For a casual meal, a colorful or patterned tablecloth can add a touch of fun and originality. You can complement with placemats and a table runner, or opt for these accessories without the tablecloth for a more casual table setting and add a touch of elegance without covering the entire table.

Arrange the dishes

Place a charger plate in the center of each place setting, for formal meals add a bread plate to the left of the main plate. Add the water glasses directly above the plate. To the right of the water glass, place the red wine glass, then the white wine glass slightly set back.

Cutlery should be arranged in the order of use, from the outside to the inside. To the right of the plate, place the knife (blade facing the plate) and the soup spoon. To the left, place the fork. If you are serving a salad, place the dedicated cutlery outside the main cutlery.

Decorate the table

To decorate your table, place folded napkins on the serving plate, to the left of the forks or in the glasses. You can also add place cards or other small decorative objects that match the theme of your meal. Finish your decoration with a centerpiece, opt for fresh flowers, candles or seasonal elements. The centerpiece should not be too high to avoid disturbing the conversation.

Setting a table with care shows special attention to your guests and helps create a pleasant atmosphere. Don't hesitate to personalize your table according to your tastes and the occasion, and above all, have fun creating your table!
